I had the honor of presenting to Mexico’s Senate on the weaponization of AI in gender violence.

🏛️Yesterday, I had the honor of presenting to Mexico’s Senate about the weaponization of AI for gender violence.

🤖 In my testimony, I discussed the dual-edged role of artificial intelligence—not only how it might inadvertently facilitate such violence but also how it can be employed to combat this issue.

📱 Specifically, I talked about the role that encrypted platforms play in escalating online gender-based violence and how artificial intelligence can be utilized to automate and amplify the spread of harassment.

🔍 I also shared insights from our research at the Northeastern Civic AI Lab about the challenges journalists and NGOs in Latin America face in addressing this issue, and how this led us to develop artificial intelligence tools specifically designed to help them identify the most persistent attacks and implement more effective counter strategies.
