I recently had the privilege of being interviewed by WUFT News on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating and combating deepfakes. Throughout the interview, we dissected how AI can be both a tool for creating deepfakes and a solution to detect them, emphasizing the ongoing arms race between deepfake creators and those developing AI-driven detection tools. We discussed current efforts and challenges in AI research aimed at identifying deepfakes, including the development of algorithms that can spot inconsistencies invisible to the human eye.
